<p>Last month Professor Whitmer traveled to Germany to lecture about her research on the uses of material models and visual education in early eighteenth-century Halle.  The city of Halle is the home of the German National Academy of Sciences, an institution called the Leopoldina, which was founded in 1652.  Members of the academy include some of the world's leading scientists and academicians; the academy regularly hosts public lectures and seminars in the history of science.   </p>

<p>Dr. Nicholas Roberts' article, "Re-Remembering the Mandate: Historiographical Debates and Revisionist History in the Study of British Palestine," looks at recent trends in the historiography of British Mandate Palestine.  He analyzes how new approaches to writing about the history of Israel/Palestine have influenced scholarly accounts of the period of British rule, while also considering how recent political events have shaped discussions of this past.
